Still Interested in a TDI?  Now's the Time! It has been well documented that VW bought 400,000+ TDI’s back from the general public.   While they’ve been selling them to the dealer body over the past year or two, other TDI’s have made their way to the used car market via independent non-VW brand dealers.    There is a HUGE difference between a certified VW TDI diesel purchased from a franchise Volkswagen dealer vs. an independent non-VW dealer.   First and foremost, Volkswagen of America (VWoA) released and offered these vehicles (for sale) to VW Dealers ONLY in smaller increments over time in an effort to not saturate the market.   These vehicles were made available on a closed “VW Dealer Only” website so we could pick and choose the best of the best, and simply pass on the others.   Once those “others” got passed on by the entire VW dealer body nationwide, those cars were made available to regular independent dealer auctions like Adessa and Manheim.   This is, f
