Hewlett Volkswagen's sister store, Don Hewlett Chevrolet Buick is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 2019 Soiree A Coming Together for Kids benefitting The Georgetown Project, Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, and Casa of Williamson County. This magical event will take place on February 16, 2019 at 6:00 pm at the Sheraton Hotel in Georgetown.
The Georgetown Project
Their vision is that no child is hungry, hurt, alone
or rejected, and that all children and youth believe they are loved,
respected and treated with dignity. The Georgetown Project has
served almost 25,000 Georgetown children and youth of all ages and from
all walks of life in the past 20 years. They believe positive
intergenerational relationships can make all the difference for young
people. The Georgetown Project is
the community leader in defining, mobilizing, and building
collaborative partnerships that fill important gaps in community
services along the ages and stages in a child's life.
The Advocacy Center helps Williamson County's sexually and physically
abused children in a child-friendly facility, where investigative
agencies collaborate to put the child victim's best interests first. Their
mission is to provide a safe place to report child abuse, reduce the
emotional trauma for children and non-offending family members, and
extend professional services that protect the integrity of an
investigation. All services continue to be free of charge to every family living in Williamson County.
When a child enters the foster care system because
his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed
volunteer to help them. That volunteer is called a court appointed
Special Advocate, or CASA. CASA volunteers are
screened, highly trained, and then appointed by judges to represent
and advocate for a child's best interest in the child protection system.
CASA volunteers are each assigned to help one child or set of siblings
at a time, so they can focus on giving that child or sibling group the
individualized advocacy and attention they need.
