Inventory…We Have Plenty of it at Hewlett VW!

You may have noticed around town (state and nationally as well), new and used car inventory is getting very slim.  Inventory levels in the automotive industry are squeezed very tight right now all because of a global micro-chip shortage.

Yes, it’s hard to believe that we can build thousands of vehicles and one little, tiny micro-chip keeps them from being completed and shipped to the dealer - but that’s what’s happening.

Volkswagen did anticipate this micro-chip shortage and switched their already produced chips over to the more popular selling vehicles for production.  Translation:  We here at Hewlett Volkswagen are still getting shipments of the “good stuff”.   In fact, our shipments vs. sales last month were almost 1 to 1 so hopefully we’ll remain in good shape.

The Volkswagen ID.4 EV is arriving daily and selling as fast as they come in.  We were given an additional allocation of “unsold” ID.4 EV’s so if you weren’t able to order one, now’s your chance.

Volkswagen has also introduced the all-new VW Taos.  It’s slightly smaller than the current Tiguan.  The Taos will be here in June as a 2022 model.  Our first allocation includes 35 Taos SUVs so we’re excited to hit the market running with this new product.

Incentives remain strong, 0% APR is still available, and inventory continues to arrive. If you’re considering a new Volkswagen, your timing couldn’t be better, come visit us!

Safe travels,

John Chauvin, GM Hewlett Volkswagen

Latest TDI News

By John Chauvin   Welcome to summer!   It’s our sincere hope that you’re enjoying this warmer weather for outdoor events, backyard fun and maybe even some well-deserved vacation time with your family.   I know in previous newsletters I’ve written about the new and exciting products Volkswagen has or will launch this year.   The all new Jetta is a huge hit as VW seemed to find the perfect match for just about everything one could ask for in terms of styling, technology, comfort, roominess and of course making The People First Warranty TWICE as long.   The all new Volkswagen Atlas and Tiguan SUV’s continue to set all time sales records and our customers (and us as well) are simply amazed by these two vehicles. I wanted to change the tune a bit and talk Pre-Owned cars, specifically - the VW TDI diesel.   As we approach the final months of Volkswagen’s TDI buybacks, the focus has now shifted to the re-sale of those TDI vehicles back into the...

Brett Weldon rejoins Team Hewlett

By Tom Fornshell, Service and Parts Manager There is a lot of talk about how important family is. It is fundamental to all of us and it is very important to me. It can either be our foundation or our undoing, a huge support structure or missing altogether… maybe all the above. Any way you have it, it influences the path we take in life. Hewlett Volkswagen is owned and run by an amazing family who teach me about generosity, respect, and caring every day. They make our store feel like home. Brett Weldon was a Volkswagen service consultant for sixteen years; and ten years with the Hewlett Family.   Good and high performing people in any industry are often lured away to different organizations hoping to capitalize on some of that performance. Such was the case with Brett. Heck, I don’t blame them, Brett is a Rockstar of customer service. Anyone that has had the fortune of dealing with him knows that. So, after a couple years of not so pleasant public perception of the ...

Cheap Kid Car?

Cheap Car For a First-time Driver. At my age or at least at this stage of my life, my number one request from my friends is:  “I need a cheap car for my kid”.  My two kids have now finished both high school and college but it seemed like for maybe a ten year period - once a week somebody somewhere would ask me for a cheap car for their kid.  Of course that car came with a long list of "wants and must have" items but priority one is always related to safety and reliability.   Obviously one’s version of “cheap” is different than the next person so I have to ask, “what do you consider cheap?”  That number always seems to land around the $10,000 range.   Putting our kids in the safest and most reliable cars goes without saying.  Not a single one of us want our children in a vehicle that has poor crash ratings, poor reliability, bad gas mileage and the list goes on.  Therefore, I’m constantly tasked with finding the right car that fits ...
